HealthWell Cardiomyopathy — Medicare Access Fund

A copay fund covering prescription copays or Medicare Part B premiums for cardiomyopathy patients on Medicare, up to $7,500, for household income up to 500% of the federal poverty level. More than 100 cardiomyopathy medications are covered, including beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, anticoagulants, Entresto, Vyndaqel, and Corlanor. As of Aug 28, 2026 the fund is temporarily closed to new patients for lack of funding; existing grantees keep their benefits through their 12-month cycle. HealthWell funds reopen without notice when refunded, so it is worth re-checking rather than writing off.
Relevant to adult Barth syndrome patients on Medicare, for example through SSDI, since cardiomyopathy is the qualifying condition. HealthWell has no mitochondrial-disease-specific fund, and its General Travel Fund (up to $500) requires a prior HealthWell grant and was also reported closed to new patients.
