The successor to EJP RD runs annual joint transnational calls with rotating themes across roughly 35 countries; NIH participates in some calls. The 2026 call targeted undiagnosed cases and has closed. The JTC 2027 theme has not been announced.

Whether BTHS fits depends entirely on the year's theme. The 2026 undiagnosed-cases theme did not cover it, but earlier themes such as preclinical therapy development did — so watch the annual announcement rather than assuming eligibility.

Who can apply

Consortia of 4–6 PIs from at least 4 participating countries, each funded by their national agency; US PIs can join when NIH/NCATS participates.

How to apply

Two-stage (pre-proposal then full) via the ERDERA electronic submission system when the call opens.
