Grants for any primary mitochondrial disease, in three career-stage tiers from graduate student to principal investigator. The 2026 cycle, run jointly with Australia's Mito Foundation, awarded $500,000 across 8 grants. No indirect costs are allowed.
Barth syndrome qualifies as a primary mitochondrial disease. Note the distinction between eligible and prioritised: the 2026 priority areas were mtFAS disorders, single large-scale mtDNA deletions, and Leigh syndrome, with BTHS eligible but not named.
Graduate students, postdocs, and PIs worldwide — international applicants welcome. One application per lab.
