Two routes to affording G-CSF (NEUPOGEN/Neulasta). The SupportPlus Co-Pay Program lets commercially insured patients pay as little as $0 per dose, applied to deductible, coinsurance, or copay; it is not valid for Medicare, Medicaid, or cash payers. The Amgen Safety Net Foundation provides free Amgen medicines for uninsured or under-covered patients.
G-CSF is the standard treatment for Barth syndrome neutropenia, which is what brings these programs into scope. Families prescribed a filgrastim biosimilar such as Zarxio or Nivestym should ask the prescriber which manufacturer's program applies instead.
SupportPlus: commercial/private insurance only. Safety Net: US residence for 6+ months, household income at or below 400% of the federal poverty level, generally not eligible for public coverage (certain Medicare patients with coverage gaps may qualify).
